Nicaragua is currently planning a major infrastructure project that is expected to transform transportation and spur economic growth and tourism in the country. The Costanera Highway will improve access between towns along the Pacific coast of Nicaragua. This important transportation link is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve safety , while also creating new opportunities for economic development.
Tender documents for the project have a deadline of April 15th. You can see on the map the route and how it bypasses our town of Escamequita. You can check out the proposed route for the highway with this link for google earth.
